World’s Greatest Fresh Fruit Crisp

1 cup all purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/3 cup firmly packed brown sugar
4 tablespoons sugar
1 tablespoon grated lemon zest
1 tablespoon grated orange zest
1/3 cup unsalted butter, room temperature
1/2 cup pecans, toasted and chopped
2 tablespoons sugar
8 cups seasonal fresh fruit (apples, peaches, plums, pears, strawberries, blueberries, blackberries, raspberries, pineapple, mango, papaya etc.)
1 teaspoon lemon juice
1 teaspoon orange juice
Ice cream, frozen yogurt, or whipped cream to top (optional)


Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Lightly butter and sugar a 9 x 13 inch glass baking dish.

In a large bowl, combine the flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, brown sugar, 4 tablespoons of sugaar and zests and cut the butter into the mixture. When the mixture resembles oatmeal, add the pecans and set aside.

In a bowl, mix the fruit, 2 tablespoons sugar and lemon and orange juices. Add the fruit to the baking dish. Spoon the topping over the fruit. Cover the dish with foil and bake for 20 minutes. Remove the foil and continue baking for another 20 minutes or until the top is crisp and brown. Serve with frozen yogurt, ice cream or lightly sweetened whipped cream. Serves 8.
